When are the next registrations?
Should I live in Auderghem or the Brussels region?

No, you just have to live in Belgium. There is no requirement to reside in a specific commune or region. All Belgians and Europeans (European Union) can register on presentation of their valid passport or national identity card. For non-European Union nationals, the conditions of residence in Belgium are HERE.

Where do you register?

Registrations are made at the Institute’s secretariat. The secretariat is located on the first floor, at the far right as you enter the building.

How old do you have to be to sign up?

Our courses are open to everyone aged 16 and over.Minors must provide proof of enrolment in compulsory education (certificate of enrolment) or a secondary school leaving certificate (CESS or equivalent).

How much does it cost to register for a course?

It all depends on the course you choose. See HERE

Can I have a price reduction?

Yes, in some cases you can benefit from reduced prices. See HERE

What payment methods are accepted?

The full training fee must be paid on the day of registration. For any discounts you may be entitled to, you will be asked to pay the full amount until supporting documents have been provided.

My course is ending soon and I'd like to register for the next level. What do I need to do?

Currently registered students will receive an INFORMATION shortly before the end of their module, inviting them to register as a priority.

Since this priority registration takes place before the end-of-module exam results are known, you will be automatically registered for the next level. If, unfortunately, you do not pass the end-of-module exam, you will be transferred to the previous level OR reimbursed.

What should I do if I'm registering via Actiris?
  • First register with an Actiris branch and ask for a language voucher (for French and English) or an ICT voucher (for computer courses).
  • Once your registration has been validated by Actiris, come to IAPS to confirm your registration with us.
  • Courses take place during the day

How can I receive my registration certificate?

You will receive your registration certificate immediately after payment (on the day of registration). Please do not lose this certificate, as it is the physical proof of your payment.

Courses at the Institute

What language are the courses taught in?
  • Language courses are given in the target language studied. For A1 beginner courses in English, Dutch, German, Spanish, Italian, Chinese and Japanese, some basic explanations may be given in French. For this reason, a minimum A2 level in French is required.
  • All other courses are given in French. Fluency in French is therefore required.
When do classes start?

IAPS offers several start dates per academic year, depending on the course. The start dates are specified on each course page.

What are the timetables for my choice of courses?

Are courses organized according to student level?

All language courses are organized with the learner’s level in mind, This is why a test is organized at the time of registration.

Do courses continue during school vacations?

No, as an official school of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation, classes are suspended during statutory vacations (public holidays and winter vacation).
Classes are also suspended during the autumn (November), relaxation (February) and spring (May) vacations.

What certificate will I receive if I pass?

This is a certificate of achievement. This official document has legal value and is recognized in Belgium and abroad. For languages, it is valid in any official school to certify the language level achieved.

Where can I find the school's internal regulations?

The regulations are posted on the Institute’s notice board on the first floor, opposite the secretariat.

Can I take paid educational leave while attending courses at IAPS?

Yes, training courses organized by IAPS are eligible for paid educational leave.

Yes, this information is covered by a point in the IAPS general rules of procedure (point 6).

What to do in case of absence

All absences must be justified by documentary evidence of the major impossibility of attending the course, submitted to the secretary’s office or by e-mail to info@iaps.be no later than the 3rd calendar day from the start of the absence. All supporting documents are subject to approval by the Board of Studies (Management and teacher(s)).

NB: for pedagogical reasons, any student with too many absences, even if justified, will be refused access to end-of-module tests. Further information can be found in the section’s internal regulations.

Can I bring a friend to class?

Only those registered for a course are entitled to attend. The only exception is for companions of students with special needs, who have made a request to the Institute’s Inclusive Teaching Service.

Is it possible to change groups?

A change of group can only be considered for exceptional and duly justified reasons, to be submitted to the Management for approval, after having informed the student’s teacher.
